I'm a beginner.

I want to test modes of snort in Kali with vmware.
I don't have any problem with sniffer mode but I have a problem with packet logger.

Actually after I use "-l /var/log/snort" in my code , I receive this message :
"WARNING: No preprocessors configured for policy 0"

and nothing appears in the log, and also it isn't any folder or file for logging!

What's the problem? How can I fix it?

Hi&Welcome to LQ! Although your other post looks fine, just a couple bits of friendly advice:
LQ'ers always say (&quote Kali docs!) "for experts who already know how", and
be careful with LQrules about "no cracking etc" (tho you aren't black-hatting).

A web-search of the error finds this, saying you need (a 'good') -c snort.conf

Anyway, best wishes; let us know how it goes! (I don't know snort but www does!)
p.s. I'd say hello in Intro, with a tiny bit about your PC/experience (ram size?), and Linux interests&goals.
