OpenSUSE sysconfig editor info
I was wondering if someone could help me with OpenSUSE's sysconfig editor in Yast. I was looking at limits (ulimit stuff mostly) and while I know how to find the amount of resident and virtual memory an application is using, I honestly don't know how to find some of the other items, i.e. how much is being used by a program, to tune the settings. I tried setting all the percentages to 50% hard limit and 33% soft limit (AMD dual turion laptop with 3GB ram and 6GB swap) but upon reboot, firefox would not run, and I could not figure out what limit it ran up against from a strace. I tried googling and the ps man page but I ran out of free time.
If someone could help me find the other info (data segment, stack descriptors, etc) on it while it's running, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
