OpenLDAP account policy

I just got ldap up and running, authenticating user logins through Radius.

However I am still missing on the account lockout feature.

Users should have 3 tries to get the correct password. Else the account will lockout. Tried a few methods using pam but it just won't synchronise account information.

I been looking around LDAP configs and found nothing that can do this, am I looking in the right place or it's an external feature?

Goretex 07-18-2007 11:51 PM

I reverted to Freeradius + /etc/passwd authentication, but it doesn't seem to go through pam_tally to check if a user has exceeded the number of retries, and deny the user if he has exceeded 3 password retries

pam_auth is loaded pointing to radiusd

Presently, even with a locked account, a user could still get in if the correct password was supplied.

Is my pam_tally configured wrongly or radiusd (pam_auth or rlm_unix module) just simply doesn't want to look at pam_tally to decide whether to deny locked accounts?

Thanks for the help in advance.
