once in how often? twice in two days!?

has anyone ever rebooted their computer to discover that the root password has been changed?

this happend to me last week, on a computer i use only to code on, its not connected to the internet and has no floppy drives

is there a possible explanation for this -other- than someone walking by when root was logged in and changing the password?

The file with the root password (either /etc/passwd or whatever the shadow file is) could have got corrupted or deleted I suppose.
