Monitor indiviual users' network traffic from my firewall ?

Heya!

Me and some friends are about to set up a LAN and many things are good to go including a restrictive firewall (in the sense that things we don't want to run on the internet won't get there) and such..

A problem though is while I made a script that can find the mac adress of a supplied IP (through the dhcpd.leases file) - and ban them from the network. I still need a tool with which to monitor their traffic to begin with.

All I'd like to have is the possibillity to see (preferably mac but IP adresses will do too) how much traffic (in kbytes, mbytes, kbit or mbit) that a person generates when going online -and the ports used

The reason I even have a hope of this existing is that every computer MUST pass my firewall which handles ALL traffic to the outside world.

I really hope tools such as this exists and that somebody can point me to them :P

i'd suggest you had a look into ntop. provides so many web based network based statistics it's unreal.
