modify the telnet header message?

everytime i telnet to my linux box, this welcome message appears:

"Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla)
Kernel 2.4.18-3 on an i686

login:"

maybe i'm a little paranoid, but i prefer not to show my os and kernel version. is there some way i can modify the above message? thanks.

In /etc/rc.d/rc.local:
echo -e "Lame Login Mantra (repeat x100)\nYou shouldn't have used telnet.\Your login name, password and general traffic where captured easily.\n\nShame your paranoia wasn't strong enough to reconsider using sshd..." >> /etc/issue
