So if you may be learning that the hard way now then that may be due to a lack of forethought that went into preparing for the task. If that's the case then you should not start by securing your OS but by doing an elaborate search for your handle or alias and review the value of any personally identifiable data that's publicly available. If for example you would have used an email service that exposed your IP address in headers to anyone you have taunted then you're royally SOL. Do you understand the width and depth of this or should I elaborate?

If you are looking for someone to volunteer personally coach you in using Linux, I doubt you will find a person here (although you might), as that is not the purpose of this place. The LQ community is here to help as a community via the forums.

If you indicate what particular areas of using Linux you would like to learn more about and what your level of experience is (beginner, intermediate, and so on), it's almost certain that someone here will be able to point you towards some useful resources. We were all newbies once.

In the meantime, take a look at the LQ tutorials, particularly the rules and the how to post a question; they will help you get the most from your time here.

You might also do a web search for a LUG (Linux User Group) in your area. There are also online LUGs, such as the Linux Lugcast, who would be happy for you to participate.

How you doing on the other side of the world? You like to have a friend abroad?I'm Leon.Hi mate!

Since you require instruction in installing Linux.
I am thinking Slackware is biting off more than you can chew.
I drink also but I decide when to take a drink. The bottle does not decide for me.

A youtube video is good mentoring point to get you started.

I am only posting because one of my favorite grand sons is autistic and I am wishing you Luck
on this venture of yours that I had to look up what it means before I would reply.

I see the Windows 7 in your Logo so I guess you are not running any type of Linux yet.
Slackware can be tough on new users. But. I am not one to know your mind set or work ethic.
Maybe you will hit Slackware like a Duck does to swimming in Water.

Leon.
I don't run Vanilla Slackware. I have SaliX on a Netbook.
Which is like Slackwares brother from another mother.
So I won't be much help personally as a mentor.

But after you get comfy running Slackware 14.1.
There is a ton of help from the Slackware users
here and tons of knowledge posted online.

From here on out I will sit back and see what kind of
stand up dude you are, or, just another poser.

I am not a Linux power user or mentor.
Just a scooter tramp that turned on a computer
to buy motorcycle parts and eventually ended up
here.

So calm down. Take it slow. Think and relax.
Things will come to you eventually and this forum
has your back. If you are impatient, rude, crude,
with a sense of entitlement. Then I for one will ignore
you.

Happy Trailz, Rok
