Mailbox vulnerable-directory /var/spool/mail must have 1777 protection.

Is it a big deal that /usr/spool/mail is owned by user 'mail' instead root for a Redhat 6.2 system?

Thanks,
Chris

mail boxes should be owned by mail, not root. mail is a user used by sendmail and other MH mail related programs to interface with the system.

That sounds reasonable, but then why would I be getting this line:

Mailbox vulnerable-directory /var/spool/mail must have 1777 protection.

in my sendmail logfile everytime someone logs in to check their mail?

Thanks,
M
