MAC address
hello guys,
need your inputs, how to find IP or name of a machine. If i have MAC address only.
ARP commands wont help me in switch level.

Why "arp" does not help you? Switches does not interfere with content of packects and MACs are passed by it. Or you mean that you cannot read packets not destined to your MAC, but it is different thing, you can send ping to get some packets back. You can also use "arpwatch" to store IP and related MAC in file and eventually inform about changes.

Try netdiscover. It lists all devices on your lan including mac and ip addresses.
