Wink Lost File permission after reboot

I have created a new folder under home /home/samba/public. I did a chmod -R g+rw samba. I did a ls -l and saw the permission I added.

However, whenever I reboot the "rw" permission was removed.

How do I change it permanently?

I am running Mandrake 10 on VMware 4 with VMware tools installed.

Thanks.

Depending on what security level you selected during the installation, you may need to modify that msec config file to ignore the file permissions on that folder. Otherwise everytime msec performs a check, it will likely modify the permissions back to the original defaults.

My Secure Level is set to 3. What do I need to do so that MSEC will not restore the file permission to it default value?

THanks.

You need to make an msec local override. Mandrake used to have a good tutorial on doing this, but it looks like they took it down Luckily there's a Google Cache of it:

http://216.239.41.104/search?q=cache.../docs/msec.php

Specifically, checkout the section on overriding file perms.
