lock password after failed attempts...


I want to lock the passwords for the users who fail to login after some 3 or 5 attempts... can anyone please let me know how to do it?

Is this for local logins? SSH logins? All logins?

Also what distro of Linux are you using and do you know if you are using PAM?

Its better for SSH... If I could do it for normal logins, thats still fine...

Can you please tell both the ways?
