Konsole Root Login Fail after Executable Moved

hi!

from kde konsole session, i moved a copy of korn shell 93 to /bin/ksh93, then chown REGULARUSER -R /bin.. (hey, i was lazy! but i left the original ksh executable there..), then chmod u+wx /bin. i reboot, get to kde desk, then try su, but the password isnt accepted!! i push CTRL+ALT+ESC, and can login as root!!!!!!

grr! my brain hurts..

why cant i login as root in konsole, now..? its not working for any of my other terminal emulators, either.

", i moved a copy of korn shell 93 to /bin/ksh93"
"why cant i login as root in konsole, now..?"

You probably need to add /bin/ksh93 as an entry in /etc/shells.

but i left the original ksh executable there..),

The thing that I'm thinking is that the first one in the path is being used.

original file is favored?

i doubt it, considering the user REGULARUSER has no problem using korn93 or the 88 version. the default shell for this user now outputs:

Version M.. when i command:

set -o emacs (ENTER)
then hit (CTRL+V).

my problem, distilled, is this user cannot su. is there a hash or checksum-thing <snicker> that i need to duplicate in the ksh93 executable itself--just let me know, someone.. any.. one..? <crickets>

Mister Phillips might have a point, though..
