KDM and GDM effect port 6000 differently

I noticed sometimes when I scan my gentoo box with nmap port 6000 would be open, but not always. I think I found the pattern of it being open or closed. when I use KDM to startx it is open, wnen I use GDM to startx it is closed. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

No, because I don't use KDM nor GDM.
I think you best recursively grep /etc/X11 for some commented out "nolisten-tcp" directive.
