iptables tutorial

Is there a simple tutorial for iptables? I did googling but many go into advanced stuff that I really dont need for a simple home computer. Can anyone give me some links on how to quickly set up rules for iptables?

Install a gui front end like shorewall, guarddog, firestarter or fwbuilder. I like fwbuilder myself...

Something for Dropline-Gnome? Slack 10.2

I believe firestarter is generally Gnomish :)

Firestarter. But learning iptables is imho a much better idea.

Ok, but before I delve into TCP/IP and layers and stuff like that, as a home computer only Firestarter will do on Dropline Gnome on Slack 10.2?

Later Edit

Firestarter Works ... but honestly, I lack controll, especially when I use programs like P2P programs, there must be more easy and yet more powerfull

Working with some p2p programs (+some voip protocols, irc dcc and so on) is an excrusiating experience no matter what kind of firewall you use. It's to do with the idiotic implementation of the protocols rather than with the firewall.
