iptables seems to deactivate automatically?

Hi,

I installed Fedora Core a few weeks ago and I have a problem with wy firewall configuration...

I am using firestarter to configure my connection and already did that before (on my previous RedHat 9 system). But this time it seems like the configuration simply shuts down after some time - i.e. e.g. NAT is disabled and it seems like all other rules are also disabled?!?

I have a PPPOE device as internet connection and do a NAT to my ETH connection - that works, but only for a few minutes, after that my other computer in the LAN simply has no more internet connection. This also has impacts on my samba access, so it's not only NAT but also simple routing in the LAN...

When I stop and start the firewall in firestarter again, everything's fine - for a few minutes...

This sucks!!

Any ideas? Unfortunately I am a newbie to iptables and related config questions, so any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Thosrten

take a look at the manpage for iptables. That should help you bug track to see where the problem lies. When your "iptables" clears try doing 'iptables -L' and see if the rulesets are indeed gone. Give us some more information and we can help you bugtrack much more efficiently.
