IPSec compression

Greetings!

I have FreeS/WAN host-to-host ipsec connection between two hosts. When i transferred a video file [approx 34 Meg] with IPCOMP enabled, i got a throughput of 2291 KB/sec. When I transferred a text file [approx 110 Meg] with IPCOMP enabled, i got a throughput of 2428 KB/sec. I did the transfer over 5 times and got similar values. I wonder why i am not getting the same throughput for both the transfers? is it due to the file format? video and text or something..? any idea

Does IPSec IPCOMP compress text file better than a .avi file?

PS: The average packet size when a text file[with compression enabled] was transferred is 850 Bytes and when a video file [with compression enabled] was transferred is 995 bytes.

AFAIK compression happens before encryption.
Plain text compresses better than binary data.
