In Gnome, change security settings and can't open it again
I noticed that on FC4 if you open Security Level from the Desktop->System Settings menu, and then make a change to the firewall (ex.- add a port to open) you can net get the Security Level dialog to ever open again. It will prompt me for the root password, then nothing happens, even though I am now in superuser mode.
I have experienced this on multiple servers, so I know it is not an isolated incident. But has anyone figured out how to fix the Security Dialog so that it is operational again?
Here is what I get back after typing the command in command line:
/usr/bin/system-config-securitylevel
Code:
File "/usr/share/system-config-securitylevel/system-config-security.py".line 18. in ?
app.stand_alone()
File "/usr/share/system-config-securitylevel/system-config-security.py".line 453. in ?
self.readFile()
File "/usr/share/system-config-securitylevel/system-config-security.py".line 353. in ?
protoname = socket.getservbyport(int(service), protocol)
socket.error: port/proto not found
