Im running syslogd. I also have my PIX firewall logs being written to my linux syslog server.
ONe stupid question........WHere does the syslog write its messages to. Does it write it to a bunch of files or just one file. ANd where is that file? Thanks as always FYI: Linux RedHat 7.1 Adam |
You know, we don't ever regard any question here as stupid.
Syslogd behaviour writing is dependant on how it's configured in /etc/syslog.conf: depending on facility (*what* writes?; kernel, daemons, etc, etc) and after the dot the loglevel (debug, info, critical, etc, etc) and (tab) where the log resides and what log it is. |
Thanks so much for your help.
