I lost my password (slackware)
 

(im sorta a newbie, i mean i used linux from a server i rented for irc server, ut thats basically it and a few weeks of personal experiance) I haven't used my linux box in a while because i've been SO busy with school and other stuff. Well last night i tried to login as "root" user and my other user "drake". Well, come to find out i forgot my oassword because NONE of the passwords i tried doesn't work. PLEASE help me, thanks.

(i use slackware and i havent seen a lost password help on here so if i double posted, IM VERY SORRY :()

boot into single user mode....

May i ask how? and may u explain kinda in detail? thanks

When your machine is booting you will be given a LILO prompt (I assume you are using LILO because that's what Slackware uses by default). Type tab when it comes up (think that's right -- ben awhile since I've done it) and then type "linux single" and the machine will boot into single user mode. Once you're in single user mode, you can change root's password.
