Question How to open ports 554 and 1755 to stream media?

Hi,

I have an FC5 disto, i'm trying to stream music, but i'm being blocked by firewall. I dont' want to disable firewall, and i need to open ports 554 and 1755.

I have configured RealPlayer as instructed from

http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...ion_notes.html

And i did the libcompatstdc++-33, yum install, as well as the firefox, plugin.

This was the readout from www.musicindiaonline.com 's Trident Player.

1755

That's saying that Ports 554 and 1755 are cannot be accessed, and
RealPlayer might not work.

(I think i only need port 554 as it belongs to RealPlayer)

Cheers,

To open ports on FC, run the following commands as root from the commandline/xteminal:
Code:
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport XXX -j ACCEPT
*test the app to make sure it works*
then do:
Code:
service iptables save
In the first command replace XXX with the desired port number. Also check your documentation to determine whether you need a tcp or udp port. If it still doesn't work, try temporarily disabling the firewall (service iptables stop) and then starting the app. If it doesn't work with the firewall down, then it's likely something wrong with the app itself or a networking issue. When your done testing, make sure to restart iptables (service iptables start).
