How to enable auto login using a shell script

Hi all,
I want to enable auto login in redhat linux 8.0 and RHEL 4. Can I do it using a shell script, if yes then how to proceed while writing the shell script.I require this script as I have to implement this on many machines for distributing an application.

Regards

I actually remember doing something like this a couple years ago.

Well, this article would make it seem so. I've never done it so I can't really say. =/

...next to that "distributing an application" sounds like a one-off task to me, so is it really necessary to expose those systems to a what essentially constitutes passwordless login? What measures are in place to mitigate the risk? Is there no alternative? And besides that RHL-8 is horribly deprecated and should not be used.
