How to display last date computer was turned on?

Occasionally, the landlord or workers enter my home while away. I want to be able to verify that these people have not tried to access my computer. Assume their tech-savvy is limited to pushing the power button and stopping at the display manager's password prompt. Assuming I turn off the computer whenever I am away, when I return, is there some command I can type which will print the last date the computer was powered on? Or is there some way I can tell startup to create an easy-to-read log showing the dates and times the computer was powered up?

The command 'last reboot' does this.
The command 'last' by itself will also show user login times.
