How to avoid executing embeddbed file/link

Hi folks,

On browsing Internet, occasionally it will come across some websites. On clicking their URL to enter their sites will automatically popup other sites in series (chain-action). Are there solutions to stop executing embedded file/link. OR are there software from open source to stop such operation.

TIA

B.R.

You could use a browser such as Mozilla or Firebird that allows you to control popups. Using a proxy like Privoxy is also an option.

Hi stickman,

As curiosity and interest I have further questions

1) Could you please explain in more detail about "Using a proxy like Privoxy is also an option"

2) On Mozilla I solved the problme with;

Edit -> Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Popup Windows -> (check) Block unreguested popup window

That is the GUI way. Can it be worked by editing file/files, i.e. adding / deleting certain lines/entries in a file/files governing this operation.

TIA

Using a web proxy (like Privoxy) will allow you to do things like block popup windows, remove ads, etc.
