How does GPG relate to PGP?
OK, so I've set up PGP for work, created keys for a couple of accounts on an RS6000 and everything seems fine.
On my Linux workstation, I've incorporated enigmail to Mozilla to encrypt/decript. This defaults to use GPG, which seems to create keys fine, and use PGP keys successfully that I send it from the AIX box. Therefore, my question is, how does GPG relate to PGP? Is it the same thing? The version of GPG is much lower than PGP - I've had isues with PGP requiring a later version to incorporate public keys in my keyring file, etc. Also, what keys am I using? I've got a .pgp directory in my ~ dir, does GPG use this? Where is my private key for GPG - is it the same as my PGP one? Sorry if this sounds basic, but can't find a good primer / FAQ... Dave |
