How do I access my Root Directory

Installed Mandrake 8.1 and am checking everything out. Clicking on the 'Home' icon on the desktop brings me to the directories. I notice that when I click on the 'Root' directory, I get a 'You do not have permissions to read file:/root'

Is this directory accessible and if so, why doesn't prompt for the password?

If it is accessible, how do I get into it to look around?

So ...
You must be login with root to can access that root directory .
try o use xterm and give this:

su root

then give your root password ... and all will be ok and you will be able to access your root directory.
Of course if you have root password.

The second solution and the best is to login with root from the begining.

Well Well ... I think that the second solution ... login with root is NOT good , If you stay online ...

Never login like root when you are online ....
Is just an advise
