Home gateway + iptables

Hello everyone, Iam trying to design my own "router" home gateway and i wanted to use IP tables just because its very powerful

This is how i want to set it up.

I will have 3 network cards (Intel Pro 10/100 network cards which are fully supported because i can use them lol) connected to a computer that will be running gentoo

I want to place the first network card (eth0) as the WAN port (modem connected to it)

Then i want to place the second network card (eth1) for the first "network"
on a network of 192.168.1.1

Then i want to place the third network card (eth2) for the first "network"
on a network of 192.168.2.1

and basically give internet to both networks

I just need to know how to setup this network, i know how to setup the rules for the cards.

Is this possible ? If so, how do you do it ? I've been trying to figure this out for a while no luck lol

Thanks guys

Personally I'd install shorewall (your distro will have packages for it) and use that to configure iptables as I find it much easier and simpler. It also has very good documentation, see:

I would first read the Gentoo Security Handbook.
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/securit...ook.xml?full=1

It sounds like you just need to NAT. You can find docs for that all over the place. The first place I generally check for iptables information is the netfilter page www.iptables.org

Their howtos will probably come in handy.
