Help with firewall?

Hello fellow linux users I am trying to get guarddog working and I configured it OK, make install went ok but i try to start it in KDE and nothing happens, just cannot start message. When i try from a console i get the infamous, cannot connect to x-server. Thanks
oops, this may not be a specific security question, I was just perusing the security forum for any hints that might be related to my question

Cool. Can you post what you did so that people in the future with the same problem can get some input on how to solve it.

Actually, I think all i did was reboot but im not sure why that would fix a Cannot connect to X-sever problem. But after i rebooted for something else the guarddog gui worked.
