Firestarter Blocking Some Pings

I just installed Ubuntu on a new system, and I'm having a problem with Firestarter. For some reason, whenever it's running, it's blocking some of my ping requests. If I ping an IP, it works fine, regardless of whether or not it exists. If I ping a hostname that exists, it also works fine. However, when I ping a host that doesn't exist, it doesn't just say "unknown host". It also says, "sendmsg() failed: Operation not permitted".

The problem this is causing is that mDNS isn't working when Firestarter is on. When it's off, I can ping computer1.local, computer2.local, etc, and it works fine. When it's off, however, I get the sendmsg() error.

Any ideas?

Edit: I've got Firestarter set to accept *all* LAN traffic.
