Fedora core 5 AntiVir / Dazuko install problem

hi,

I'm new to Linux and I've just installed my Fedora Core 5 box. For security, I'm installing AntiVir with on-access scanning, however the installation keeps fail. It seems that the installation can't run smoothly. I can't even complete the "configure" and "make" processes. Some says path not found, some says errors in autoconfig.h, etc.

Could anyone tell AntiVir is compatible with FC5?

I know that Dazuko needs re-compilation of kernel. I tried the re-compilation, but it took several hours to run and many warnings come out. Is there an easier way to accomplish on-access scanning?

Here is my configuration.
Intel Pentium III 733MHz
FC5 - kernel 2.6.15
AntiVir - Personal Classic
Dazuko - 2.2.0 / 2.2.1 (I tried them but both failed)

Hello and welcome to LQ. Hope you like it here.

For security, I'm installing AntiVir with on-access scanning,
Make sure you check your releases' documents (and the LQ FAQ: Security references) to see what you need for hardening, auditing and securing your box because while having Antivirus software is good, its priority isn't as high as it would be on say MICROS~1.

however the installation keeps fail. It seems that the installation can't run smoothly. I can't even complete the "configure" and "make" processes. Some says path not found, some says errors in autoconfig.h, etc.
Posting exact commands and errors ensures your fellow LQ members have the right information to help you.

AFAIK it should be, but the vendors site should tell you that.

I know that Dazuko needs re-compilation of kernel. I tried the re-compilation, but it took several hours to run and many warnings come out.
Again, please post exact errors. You can accomplish this by adding "2>&1 | tee -a /tmp/error.log" (w/o outer quotes) to every configure/make/whatever else command you run. The file /tmp/error.log now will contain all output. Pick the relevant parts and post them. If unsure post it all. If it's too large (over 50 lines), maybe upload it to some free webspace so people can fetch it themselves. Since you're new here you can't post true URI's, better replace "http" by "xttp" and slashes and dots by spaces.

Finally for some taxonomy if I may: your question is about GNU/Linux (but probably not FC5 specific) but while the software you have problems with is security-related, your problem is not: it's related to installing software. This means your question should have gone to a forum like Linux - Software or Linux - General.
I hope this shows you a bit how to decide where to post.
I'll leave the thread here for the duration.
