Fedora Core 1 Vserver kernel problem (ipt_state)

I am trying to set up a vserver running Fedora Core one. My final battle is getting the machine firewalled before I make it live. Unfortunately on the primary server's boot sequence I get an error saying that the iptables-restore failed on line 32. In checking the syslog I find that I cannot modprobe ipt_state as it is not found. I have every netfilter option checked in menuconfig for my kernel compiling and I edited the .config file and even found one more. Still I am unable to compile that module.

What option do I check to get ipt_state built into a vanilla kernel. (kernel 2.4.26)

I'm stumped and googling has turned up nothing for me.

Please help.

I had everything built in instead of modularized. When I recompiled with modules everything worked as advertised.

DOH!
