Encrypted File Systems

I got to thinking today, what if someone traced me. The feds come knocking at the door and bam in jail confiscate my computer and what not. I was thinking is there anything to encrypt your entire hard drive but say make it useable, say encrypt when you shutdown and decrypt it when you start it up just a thought

they can trace thru proxies.... so only use trusted ones.. but i doubt you know of any

anyways..... use loopback encryption on partitions of the hard drive that keep your personal documents, program files and whatnot don't need to be encrypted, and encrypting them would just be a hassle

well, unless your scared they are tracking you down because you use linux (linux is technically illegal under US law, well not all of it, just a few programs here.. i think the kernel and basic gnu system is legal .. ummmm )

anyways, linux_terror ... i think it should be known that the feds ruff up people for no reason (they do that to anyone they don't like, confiscate there computers and anything else like that) and all to basically say "fuck off" ... seems they need therapy for communication skills... anyways

be careful of what encryption method you use, as i remember its illegal to use strong encryptions for what you want to do (last i heard anything above 256 bit key was illegal)

I definitely do realize that they rough people up for no reason....

as far as anonymous surfing goes if you don't know of any private elite proxies here's a good place to start...

http://www.samair.ru/xwww/proxy.htm

anyway...good luck to ya. And SciYro is right...be careful what u do with strong encryption...that'll get them on your tail fast.
