This question dosn't make any sense. Try rewording it or telling us what you are trying to do.

It sounds like there are messages (e-mails?) from some kind of network (LAN Internet) that arrive at your machine. You want to allow the messages, but you don't want them to appear in a log file. Is this correct?

Unhappy i can explain by an example

Thanku for replying !!

i can explain by an example

say two machines are there in local network.
host1 10.18.7.12
host2 10.18.7.13

At host1, syslog.conf is configured like below

auth.info @10.18.7.13

At host2, syslog.conf is configured like below

auth.info /var/log/auth

Whenever authentication type of events(e.g logging in to machine) is generated at 10.18.7.12,that events will be logged into the file /var/log/auth at 10.18.7.13.
But, i dont want to accept any messages from any host at 10.18.7.13.
How can i block those messages delivered from remote hosts??

--------------

regards,
uday

This would imply that on 10.18.7.13 syslogd was deliberately configured to accept remote messages (by using the "-r" option). So you could either stop it from listening by removing the "-r" option (from whatever config file your syslogd uses) or you could also just firewall UDP port 514.
