Question Database Disappearance

Help?
I run a support database on a Linux machine using Apache Web Server and on Saturday Jan3rd between 2&4pm my entire database disappeared. I've been through the Error and Access logs and fail to see anything obvious except a large gap in errors between 2&4pm. I still have no idea what happened and am worried i've been hacked(what's worse than being hacked? Being hacked and not knowing about it!!)
All IP addresses appear genuine
No log saying rm *.* or similar
Can someone point me in the right direction...1 main question i have is has anyone experience of databases dissappearing?
Thanks in advance
Al.
