Creating password file

Hi,

How do I add a user to a passwd file?

I know that it is supposed to look something like that in the file:

simon:TsNLnUhhgjEVN

I did it last year but I just don't remember what I did.

I need to add users to CVS' passwd file. The CVS doc says that they use standard crypt function.

Anybody can help me?

Code:
man 1 passwd
Is this what you're looking for?

For achieving that I find useful the command htpasswd. Then I just specify the type of encyption, the passwordfile, the username, and the password.

Cheers.
