Closing mysqld Port via my.cnf


Hi all is there anyway I can stop MySQL listening for TCP connections without stopping it listening via the Unix port for local system connections????

Why not use iptables or ipcahins to block connections.

As its for an MSc Project and due to hardware and time limitations i want to stop it lstening to TCP rather than setting up a Firewall.

Ok - try adding:
bind-address=127.0.0.1

To /etc/my.cnf just under:
[mysqld]
