Exclamation Chroot Help Needed

I am a relatively new user to the Linux environment and I have questions. Questions that haven't been answered clearly elsewhere on the net. Can anybody help me?

I need to know exactly what (in stupid people's language) I need to do to use chroot on my server. I am virtually hosting a couple of sites, and currently the users associated with the sites can see the entire tree structure. Of course, to make it more difficult, I allow them to use php4 and mySQL.

What steps (EXACTLY - hopefully with examples) do I need to take to instantiate chroot and keep the little buggers from browsing all of my structure?

I am sorry to have to sound like an idiot, but my frustration is driving me insane.

Could you tell us what you mean by "currently the users associated with the sites can see the entire tree structure"? Filesystem? DocumentRoot? Vhost DocumentRoot?

Here's some info on chrooting:
An Overview of 'chroot jailing' Services in Linux, How to 'chroot' an Apache tree with Linux and Solaris, How can I run Apache and PHP in a chroot environment?, and something more to think about: Why chroot Sucks (txt, 5th item).
* For making chroot's I use rootjail (see freshmeat), it makes setting up the base skeleton a lot easier to tweak.

HTH somehow.
