Question Changing Cron Linux with PHP

Greetings;

I have read a white paper finding the way to automatically change the cron server from php script with the library libssh2, but I'm not sure about how safe is this for the server.

Has anyone done this? What are the considerations that I have to take with this?

Thanks in advance.

PHP is usually run by the webserver user. This is a user that cannot do much on the server for security reasons. PHP can be used as a command line script engine, too. Such scripts could be executed by other users, even root.

What do you want to do with the cron server? Add new cron jobs? Edit existing jobs? Almost everything regarding crond must be done as root.
