Just installed Fedora 10. I cannot log into Linux using the root password. I login as a regular user in GNOME. I can access Admin utilities using the root password. I can start a terminal session and authenticate as root with root password.
Is there a known bug with root authentication during login? How can I fix this problem?
In Negus and Foster-Johnson, "Fedora 10 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux," Wiley Publishing, 2009, page 85, suggest that by choosing Other you can "manually log in as root." It was a little mis-leading.
