backup and contingency planning

hi.
i have to do scheduled backups on my thesis to some servers (bind, tacacs, radius, mysql, etc.), including firewalls and routers (if it's possible) and so far i haven't been able to find anything about it.

i would like to know where can i find all the information on methodologies and methods for contingency planning for data backup

thanx all.
