anyone know a good Traceroute App?

Hi,

has anyone come accross an App similar to Neotrace [win] for linux?

I am running RH 9.x and it's inbuilt traceroute is crap. I want to trace and view info on UCE/SPAM-ers.

Crosspost...

I. Don't crosspost. We don't like that at LQ (read the LQ rules).
II. This is a Linux site. Explain for those who don't use MICROS~1 products, or Neotrace, what this app has in favour over traceroute, lft, tcptraceroute, paratrace or Visual traceroute.
III. This is the Linux - Security forum. Your question isn't about security. Next time please take care of selecting the right forum for your questions.

//Gundel, next time just use "report post" to report crossposts please. TIA.

Crikey, pardon me, but 'crossposting' is when you send the same message to two NGs at the same time. I have not had one single question answered in a helpful manner.

..and i dont think your implication that UCE is *not* security related is sensible at all.

I only asked what might be similar to this particular windows app, not at any time did i state that the app was superior to all the apps mentioned in your reply.... just the vanilla 'traceroute' that comes with RH is 'crap' in my opionion.

Most Linix users have access to Win32 and would be familar with what i was talking about.
I subscribe to a number of stats sites this is true. If this were a BSD forum i might aknowledge your point, but frankly i think you are being inflamatory and petty on an attempt to big note yourself.

That is no excuse. If you didn't knew that, you know now.
Besides that the argument is kinda weak, you haven't registered that long ago.

What I mean to say is, if you gonna reference some app, make sure you do it good.
Talk about it, list the URI it or its screenshots are at, etc etc.

You're missing the point. Maybe that's also why you've thrown in talking about spam and statistics. That also has no bearing on your initial question and my moderation reply.

If you have problems with how I conduct my moderation you are invited to take it up with me by mail.

By the same token, the "tracert" that comes with Windows is "crap" so I think it's unnecessarily inflamitory to make this accusation against one particular OS.

By the way, what you're using a tool for has no bearing on what type of tool it is. If you're asking for a general network tool, place your question in networking.

Now if you had a question on "how do I do forensics on e-mail" then yes, that would be a security question.
