allowing apache to talk to mysql on fedora core 3 with security enhancement enabled

running fedora core 3 and dislikthte thought of disabling se on apache.
i have an issue because mysql is not even getting the mysql calls being made to it from php. apparently this is something common, but i've yet to find a place with a way to tell se that it is ok for php and mysql to talk to one another.

if anyone has found a viable solution, i would greatly appreciate an explanation of how you found it, so that i may learn. ofcourse, posting the solution is welcome as well.

fc3 comes with a built-in apache and php4.3.9 but the php is not configured to connect to mysql. you have to do a yum install. i hope i got your question right.
