a program better than firestarter?

I've seen a lot of people mentioning firestarter as a firewall tool, so I thought I'd check it out. I'm doing this from school, and what do you know, it locked me out. It gave me no options for open ports or anything, and then locked out remote x/vnc/ssh/http/https. does it just block ALL incomming traffic? is there a program that does something similar to webmin which is basicaly just a nice gui for iptables but is faster/non web based?

locked out of my box, no mp3s durring lab

By default, it drops all unsolicited incoming connections (as one part of an overall default policy) - you can augment this with your own user defined exceptions to the "inbound policy" though.
