We're Looking for Feedback on the next The Questions Network Site Launch
As we recently announced, the AQ code-base is nearing the point that we'll consider moving LQ over (we're frankly a little behind our initial expectations for this). Before making that move, it's probable we'll launch a third TQN site. This will allow us to better test the code and will also keep us to our original plan for TQN. With this in mind we're looking for feedback on the topic of the next site. It's possible ChromeOS is a good target; it's a well defined topic, based on Linux and dovetails nicely with LinuxQuestions.org and AndroidQuestions.org. Additional suggestions, feedback on the ChromeOS idea and general feedback on TQN is welcome.

I, personally, think you'll have a better outcome with ChromeOS than you are with AQ. Why? because even though ChromeOS is gaining popularity there really still isn't alot of good information available on it unlike Android where every man and his dog has information and it's not hard to get decent information. LQ is a well known and respected site because for many years it was one of the very few who you could source good information from. Just my humble point of view.
AndoridQuestions
There is a lot of sites vendor specific and tech modding(like xda-developers)
Hard questions still are:
how to convert linux kernel to android kernel, how to port lk drivers to android(and that is a big problem even for android-x86)
i didnt saw any general guides only half-working for specific models.
Modding.. well mostly java/apps specific resource repacking/adding specific programs to roms etc..
this area have a lot of competition and it's hard to get something unique.. but still possible.
(btw check xda-developers web site and forum(!) for design and stuff.. very good polished system for specific auditory)
Next one hmmm... Linux Steam(and other) Games Reviews? Linux Game Consoles, ... (!) Linux Paint,GFX,3D programs(with plugins/effect share), ... well how about make some general platform that users can open topic specific subsites?
A new topic for a new site is indeed a difficult question. Everything Linux, including games, is already covered by LQ, Android is covered by AQ, so ChromeOS may be the next step, but I have doubts that the ChromeOS userbase is (at least currently) large enough to legitimate an extra forum.
It would be interesting to know which limitations are given for the next topic. For example, it may be seen as blasphemy by some people here, but I would think that a WindowsQuestions.org site would generate the most participation. Many LQ members are not only using Linux, but also Windows (be it in their job or at home), so that we would already have a reasonable large member-base that could participate directly from start, but it may be difficult to compete against the mass of Windows forums already existing.
Other than that I think that a forum specialized at all things related to networks and networking (OS independent) would be a good idea.

I'd not say there are any real limitations as for as topics go. That said, while a Windows site may be possible in the long term future, I don't think it's a good topic for the next launch. I'd like something fairly narrow, well defined and without a large number of existing fora. ChromeOS seems to fit that better than anything else, but I'm still quite open to other suggestions.
Consider surveying your current set of proven experts to find out in what other areas they know stuff. That would point you toward a subject where you would have a good chance of having a ready-made pool of members that would be likely to answer questions.

I agree totally, I'm just thinking out loud about the fanboys of various distros that think they will need their own Questions Network site and suggest it.
I think the only other sub forum of LQ, apart from Programming, that could be made into its own site would be the BSD section. I can see it now ProgrammingQuestions.org and BSD-Questions.org
That is a good idea but I am sure many people would think they could make the same suggestion for most of the sub forums on LQ.
Yes, why don't we have a separate forum just for LQ suggestions and feedback?
Back on topic,

The fora for the suggestions below already exist but there are very few of them:
Linux for audio production, Linux for photographers, Raspberry Pi / Arduino, etc, Linux for businesses, Linux for schools.
I'm not saying that the above are necessarily good ideas for fora. It's just I'd personally love to see more thriving communities around those topics.

FWIW, both of those existed in the past; well before we had the single signon goodness of The Questions Network.
