"When it really matters to them, Congressmembers can come together -- with a panache and wry wit you didn't know they had. As banned books week gets underway, and President Obama admonishes oppressive regimes for their censorship of the Internet, a group of powerful Senators -- Republicans and Democrats alike -- have signed onto a bill that would vastly expand the government's power to censor the Internet."
Yes, slowly it will happen ... this, the internet, is the last frontier of freedom, it is the last citadel that must fall before the world can be plunged into darkness. Yes, I will sign the petition, but I don't think it will matter too much. (when has a petition actually worked ? I have never seen it work)
P.S. "a group of powerful Senators -- Republicans and Democrats alike -- have signed onto a bill that would vastly expand the government's power to censor the Internet." ... they are taking orders, for they are bound to the power of the one ring.

Meh.. I tend to agree on that question: how successful are petition campaigns? Don't know. But..
Though I'm north of the U.S.A., I signed it anyways 'cause our PM's head has been known to fit quite well in the elephant's rear end at times-- and if this bunch of dung does grow wings, signing the petition might help stop it from flying across the border and setting up shop here too.
