Post Pressure mounts to phase out Internet Explorer 6

"A Downing Street petition is calling for the UK government to drop Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) and move to a more modern browser."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8492862.stm

Well it is a start, but I was hoping IE itself would be phased out, not just an older version.

Typical. Anything to keep MS happy.

Heh, yep- IE6 has been patched to death... time to force them to move on.

BTW- A "fully-patched version of IE" doesn't exist. They've all died with known, unpatched security breaches, just like every version of Windows.

The headline should read:

"Pressure mounts to phase out Microsoft."
