working with open source
 

I currently work with a major integrator of severs. We offer RHEL on some of the configs. Although our customizations are limited we do what the customer needs done. Basically all the end user needs to do is plug in hook up and turn on, "out of the box".

murankar - the aim is to identify people who work on open source projects, so samba members, linux distro members (for example Canonical or Slackware) and the like.

It's great that your company has embraced Linux and FOSS and we don't wish to minimise that in any way, but it's not what's required for this.

Does it count if you are an admin of a sourceforge project?

Project leaders are certainly along the lines of what we're looking for with this program.

There is no mention to open source in your company's site, nor is there a download section or any mention to its participation in Open Source projects development.
I'm afraid you don't match what this thread is all about.

I have been a linux lover but had nothing to show for it until recently when a group of friends and i decided to form a community that will take open source to our community. We have not fully picked up but we have rgistered our dormain which you can visit "www.coscomu.org". Personaly, linux has been a handy tool which i underrated but i have come to learn what MS Windows can do, Linux can do umpteen times better. Configuring it is normally the challenge which can always be overcome.

guys, I think the idea behind jeremy's post is that if u coded some software (OS ofcourse), just let him know and he'll indicate this fact somehow along with ur nickname. Thus, we, users will be able to distinguish the answers and comments of "architects" from those of "outsiders".
I don't think this applies to the situation when u work at organization which runs *nix servers/desktops or theaches kids to use OS.

Nope, that is absolutely correct. If you are, say, a Samba dev you will get a nice custom title. Or if you are part of Fedora or another project. Using the software at work, while being fantastic, doesn't get you a title.

I have always worked with service providers on linux platform.
On redhat suse ubuntu...... In India,mostly use opensource tool and novell products like groupwise Zenworks etc........

I am currently intrested to go for device driver programming.
Not many but there are still device compatibility issues also I would be glad if i wold be able to provide ways to use things like mobiles(data transfer n net connection) n MTNL USB connectons .....on linux

Hi Guys,
I am affiliated with two Open Source projects. The first project I created was called "Univplatform" (quotes omitted). It is a simple Bourne shell script which, when executed, installs all of the programs necessary to allow a Debian/Linux computer to read and install Windows programs, mount HFS and HFS+ formatted volumes, LSB, Red Hat, Stampede, Slackware Packages, and most (if not all) of the media codecs out there. The second project I created was "DMG Automounter for Linux" (quotes omitted). DMG Automounter is a Nautilus script that enables any distribution of Linux (with the GNOME desktop) to mount a Mac OS X .dmg file (but not install it, since that would require the Mac OS X APIs which are closed source). Although you cannot install a *.dmg file in Linux, you can mount it (and unmount it). Most websites "think" they have posted code that has this capability (but it doesn't work), and I have actually solved the problem by creating a nautilus script of my own that enables any distribution of Linux to mount a Mac OS X .dmg file (but not install it, since that would require the Mac OS X APIs, which are closed source).
