LinuxQuestions Re-releases LQ Bookmarks
About a year ago, we released LQ Bookmarks, a site for Social Bookmarking, tagging and annotating all things Linux and Open Source. I am happy to announce that we have re-released an all new version of the site at http://www.linuxquestions.org/bookmarks/. The first thing you'll notice is that the new site uses your standard LQ username and password (in fact, if you're logged into LQ you're already logged into the new LQ Bookmarks site). The site also has an updated look, supports the del.icio.us API, has a nice tag cloud and much more. If you used the old site you can import your bookmarks to the new site with a single click. The site should be considered BETA, but seems fairly stable at the moment. As always your feedback is welcome. We'll start redirecting tags from the old site to the new in a few weeks.

When you first access the page, there is the option part way down the screen to import the old bookmarks.

Ooops. Yes, there is. I looked too far at the outside in the grayish menu panels. I'm obviously too much used to LQ's hiding its best features in obscurity :p ;)

I love the new site!
However, could you possibly add a "Report broken link" option? I ask because some links are broken (for example, Ray's link to Linux Firewall ;)), so it would be extremely useful to weed out the old links - and possibly even automate a check for a 404 error on each site when a user is transferring their old bookmarks to the new site (and just adding a new site)? Just a suggestion or two :D Great job. [edit] Oh, and that excellent premade iptables firewall is still available here: http://web.archive.org/web/200503100....com/firewall/ ;) |
Hehe - that's how I got it the last time I needed it. I'll fix the bookmark.

Just an update that the new site should be considered out of beta and the old tags and user pages now redirect to the new site. As always, feedback is welcome.

Just a small bug - when you search for a URL in the search box, a 404 error comes it. Instead of searching the DB for the URL, it's being handled as a local link.
For example, when I searched all the bookmarks for 'http://iptables-tutorial.frozentux.net/iptables-tutorial.html' to see if it had already been posted, I got the following error: Quote:

Confirmed. We'll look into it - thanks.

Glad I could help :)
