Happy Birthday, LQ! And thanks, Jeremy.
Count me out for OSCON, unless you pay my airfare + a months stay in a ***** hotel. :)

LinuxQuestions.org is a great source of information. If I had to provide a suggestion, maybe an android app for easy access to news/forums on the go?

We've had an android app in Google Play for quite some time. A significantly better version will be released in the very near future.

Perhaps a weekly newsletter with some of the forum highlights. I like the choice polls as it provokes more discussion.

We've had the bi-weekly Community Bulletin for a *very* long time. You can subscribe in your UserCP.

One comment though, the search engine won't let you use common short words like bios, usb. What do I type if I have a problem with usb in my bios?

The current search engine does not accept three letter words unless it's part of a quoted phrase. There are a couple workarounds, but none that a very good. The next version of the LQ platform has a significantly improved search engine.

Hi jeremy. At the risk of sounding totally foolish, where is the "user tools" located so I can subscribe to LE?

It's part of your profile, which can be accessed by clicking your username in the top nav.

Congrats on the website.
It seems like a huge help to people everywhere.
Since I started using GNU/Linux my freshman year of college,
I've only continued to use it,
becoming interested in the variety of distributions and styles available.
Now I enjoy using it more than any other platform.

Thank you LQ
~Luv

the fact that you have 5 million queries only shows how confusing Linux and Ubuntu OS's are. to a newbe your
answers are usually too confusing to understand. I wish there were some other avenue that a senior could
access that's written as if they were trying to teach a child.

Love what your doing, main concern is with gaming as microsoft and steam seem to be making heavy weather on the game front, and steam seemingly leaning towards Linux as an alternative, I'm wondering about support for the future. I do appreciate that many games on steam have edged towards Linux and hope that this will be the future way to go.

Jeremy congratulations on yr first 13 years. I hope the next 13 years will be an even bigger success. I have found that most of the time my questions have been answered.

@Jeremy That's great,. i already had most of the options selected, but I selected a few more. What it still doesn't do is send me a weekly email listing posts I might be interested in reading/replying to. But, it's still pretty valuable the way it is.

Without my local lugs and services such as yours, I would never have pursued Linux. What you're doing is *very* important!

I'm sorry Jeremy, but I have to confess to total stupidity. Like the OP I don't understand anything here, nor can I find that famous LE-functionality (whatever that is exactly ;)).

Umm. I dug through all of my profile but found no LQ-Exchange. What is the "top nav"? Home - Forums - HCL - ... obviously not. I clicked on my nick in a post of mine but it is not there either. I'm lost :(.

If I may make a suggestion, the newsletter's "threads with the most views/replies" feature only ensures that the same threads will be featured forever, as they're regularly promoted. How about making it "threads with the most x that have never appeared in this feature before"? Which is too long for a title, but it might make for a more interesting feature.

Happy anniversary!

Cheers Jeremy and Happy Birthday to you and all your wonderful contributors.

I am still blundering about but have now got a functioning version of Mint and am about to shortly try Zorin once everything is backed up. It is so reassuring to know some one is there to answer us newbies undoubtedly stupid questions with patience and politeness. Thank you to everyone who has helped point me in the right direction.

Margaret

P.S. I am retired and the old passport has lapsed so no tickets for me thanx. Ho ho!
