but it also allows normal files such as .rpm .tar etc which is something that LQ may not want the responsibiliy to do. I know LQ links to iso images but they are links not hosting.
2) Some image hosters need you to login every so often....ripway is once a month....and if you do not...your account can be cancelled....especially if they need the diskspace.
3) I am aware there had been some kind of discussion to allow limited wiki hosting of images....I am not suggesting the idea should be considered, just letting anyone know that wiki(s) could be improved with embedded images. So if there are moves afoot in that area...I think it would benefit newbies....as a mere male...I like images more than having to read the manual.
4) From a negative type point of view....there are good reasons why online host images should be deleted....my puny brain can think of few
a) the distro (application etc) is out-of-date so ppl should not be looking at how it USED to be
b) someone has a better howto...better wiki...etc so you (or I) should accept reality and move on
c) The post is so old....and in a larger sub-forum.....no-one is going to search thru 50 pages of results to get to mine or yours....so if you are using a free host...it would be polite to not force them to maintain it.
Very happy to see forums like this as it is hard for us newbies. I had heard of linux quite some time ago and if it wasn't for my frustrations with windows and expressing i would not have attracted the linux mates I have now.
Hope you stay with us for many more
Linuxquestions (and Distrowatch) are the two more precious sites for me to look for news, tips, tricks and general help regarding the linux world - all the things I know now about linux mostly came from this site and their valuable contributors (and friends).
Thanks to all for helping those like me that want to use linux and became free
It was eight years ago today that I made the very first post introducing LQ to the world. I'm truly amazed how far the site has come since then. Almost 3,200,000 posts and over 350,000 registered members doesn't even begin to tell the tale, though. Despite our size we remain friendly and the core goals I had in mind when I started the site still remain to this day. In the end, the most important thing remains - and that's you. I'd like to thank each and every LQ member for their participation, dedication and feedback. That feedback has been absolutely critical to our success and growth. With that spirit in mind, I'd like to use this thread to collect as much feedback as possible about LQ. What are we doing well and where can we improve? What new features or sections would you like to see? What should we be doing differently? We have a fairly major code upgrade coming in the mid-term future, so now is a great time for feature requests. Let us know your thoughts, we really are listening. As a thank you, I'll be randomly selecting 10 suggestions from this thread and upgrading the posting member to a contributing member for one year.

Except ... People can and do come across threads from searching. So for a forum thread it really doesn't matter how old it is if it is relevant to the searcher. (My first involvement with LQ was from a Google search, and while not real old, the thread wasn't very new either.) The considerations for a wiki might be a little different.
I am not trying to push imageshace.us, but as I've noted, that is the one image hosting service I have experience with. (Even though not much experience!) Here is what they say about deleting files:
Quote:
How do I delete files?
Generally, it is not necessary to delete files at all. This is because ImageShack has enough harddrive space to accommodate your needs.
You will only be able to delete the files you upload after you register for free at ImageShack.
Kudos for LQ! It's the best and almost-only Linux site I regularly use, aside from ubuntuforums.org in a distant second place.
Serioulsy guys, great site and great job! Keep up like that.
Now, as suggestions I can't think of anything more usefull than this one that was previoulsy posted and I second it.

Sometimes someone puts up more of a HOWTO rather then a question, it could be marked answered/complete... also, if someone replies, but does not answer the thread, it does not appear under threads with no replies, and if they cannot answer the further questions, they could be ignored.
Hope this suggestion makes it in, because it would make linux questions so much better...
I am not happy with this site service. I sent a thread to know how to configure WiFi connectivity. but no one replied me. sorry folks. i quit myself from this site. And i will tell all of my friend to quit their membership from this site.

saidul, FWIW looking at your thread you give almost no indication of what the actual problem is or what steps you've taken to fix the issue. While we try to answer every question that's posted at LQ, keep in mind that the site is 100% volunteer, so we can't guarantee you an answer.
Dear Saidul.
I only want to add one more thing for Jeremy's reply: before you start a new thread, please search the forums first. There are already tons of threads where wifi connectivity issues were discussed. Search them, and if you still can't find a solution, you can start a thread. Please remember that only those problems can be solved where enough information is given, so please provide as many information as possible.
One more thing. If one of your problems weren't solved it doesn't mean that the whole forum is bad, and you must quit. The "service" here as you call, is volunteer. Nobody is paid for giving you answers, so you can't demand quick solutions from others.
Happy belated Birthday! Without all the help I have received here over the years, I doubt I would now be using Linux as my primary desktop. Thank you to everyone, and I hope I have managed to help some people as I have been helped.
