Without alerting the OP of the suggestion link below, I would like to nominate this suggeston on the use of original posters have power to change the subject to solved...resolved etc.
its a kind of vote for harishankar and his post in 2004.
forgive me for not voting for any earlier posters......but I replied to that thread...so it was easier for me to find.
2) I am aware that Jeremy had already discounted the full suggestion. So why am I bring it up again?
Because IMHO the idea still has merit....mandrivausers.org users can change their subject ok...and if you raised a question...a real question...but you had several issues to discuss....which does happen....changing the subject line to reflect your new concern ....having discounted the rest allows....the possibililty that a person may read it and reply as they have skills or experience in that area.....but without the ability to change the subject line.....other readers may read it...get disappointed with "waffle" and maybe not reply...give up etc
It was the Hardware Compatibility List that brought me here. I am searching for new peripherals that are linux compatable so I can make linux my sole os and rid myself of all things Microsoft.
Happy Birthday LQ! I'm rather new at this site, as am I'm rather new at Linux too. I'm now at the point where one starts to look beyond the basic help needs to run and configure my system (running Debian Etch). Now I'm attempting to contribute back to the community a little, by participating in a Deb localization team. I got good help from LQ forums to get things working in my system. I'm not knowledgeable enough to provide much help myself yet, but will aim to it. Thanks and congrats for this great resource, Jeremy and the rest of you who make it be so.
Happy birthday LQ. I ain't sure what I must say at his occasion because I hardly have any experiences with linux or with this forum. Recently I joined this forum, asked couple of questions and gone offline from those times.
I am pretty sure, in future (as we are implementing Oracle E-Business suit on RHEL) I have to make trips over here to clarify many questions
Keep up the good work Jeremy. All the best from the deserts
I just joined LQ yesterday and was amazed at the quickness of the first response (and subsequent ones). The amount of information presented here is terrific. So Happy Birthday from all us newbies who couldn't function without you!
